- Hitting, biting, kicking, grabbing, shoving, pushing, choking

- Unwanted or uncomfortable touching
- Continued sexual advances after saying "no"

- "Playful" use of force during sex
- Treating date like sex object

Verbal Abuse

- Name calling
- Criticizing

Assuming "Rights"

- Making all decisions
- Going out with friends, but not allowing partner
- Walking out on an argument
- Telephoning repeatedly and expecting partner to always be there

Destruction of Personal Property

- Destroying personal effects (pictures, letters, gifts, clothing)

Threats, Anger and Intimidation

- Using looks, actions, expressions or
a loud voice to intimidate partner
- Smashing or throwing objects
- Threatening to leave partner or
abandon in a dangerous place
- Threatening to commit suicide
- Threatening physical harm

Isolation, Jealousy, Possessiveness and Restriction of Freedoms

- Using jealousy as a sign of love
instead of security
- Controlling actions and activities
- Accusations of cheating on partner
